The Haitian Christian Leaders Coalition marks one year since its founding in April 2024 — a year defined by bold advocacy, growing membership, and a deepening sense of shared purpose among Haitian Christian leaders across Miami-Dade County.
In the past year, HCLC has grown from a founding cohort of 8 member churches to a coalition of over 20 congregations. The coalition has hosted community forums, engaged local and federal officials on immigration and economic policy, launched civic education programming, and developed a formal policy platform rooted in the values of faith, justice, and dignity.
“We started with a question: what would it look like for Haitian Christian leaders to speak with one voice?” said the founding leadership. “One year in, we are answering that question every day.”
Looking ahead, HCLC is preparing to expand its programming to Broward County, deepen its partnerships with national Haitian diaspora organizations, and continue building the infrastructure for sustained, effective community advocacy. The Coalition extends its gratitude to every pastor, leader, and community member who has made this first year possible.
